Weapon Tier List

RIFTSTORM’s Early Access launch on the planned August 11, 2026 Steam date includes roughly thirty starting weapons, expandable through Forge Center random crafts and mission blueprints. This Weapon Tier List ranks archetypes—not every named drop—by trio value, Weaver synergy, mod flexibility, elemental coverage for Botsy Going Viral, and scar risk under Weapon Scarring. Exact weapon names may differ at launch; revisit after the Armory Update roadmap ships.

Tier criteria

We prioritize reliable mods, magazine consistency for Starling, precision and handling for Caracal agile ops loadouts, close-range stability for Hertz, and elemental swap value for trios using Loadouts. Blueprint exclusives may outrank generic drops even at lower rarity.

S Tier archetypes

Stable magazine rifles / AR bases: backbone for Starling Momentum, Rook flexibility, and mid-range extract safety. Craft with crit or pierce at the Forge when materials allow.

Reliable shotguns / SMGs for Hertz: Stage Dive follow-ups and taunt windows reward consistent close tools without exotic mechanics that scar hurt more on failure.

A Tier archetypes

Pierce-focused marksman bases: spike Starling Sustained Salvo when lanes stay open—higher skill, higher gambit scar risk.

Responsive mid-range precision bases: fit Caracal agile ops fantasy until official kit synergies confirm—prioritize handling over slow charge weapons pre-launch.

Element-flex secondaries: swap for Botsy turret elements and squad coverage per Trio Comps—keep one safe primary, one flex gambit.

Blueprint reward weapons: mission-unlocked crafts often beat random rolls—farm Threat appropriate to blueprint drop tables from Threat Levels.

B Tier archetypes

Slow heavy weapons: strong when stationary; weak in mobile Rift Exposure Zones or pug groups that do not peel.

Niche elemental tech weapons: situational against specific Mythic affixes—do not Forge-invest all squad materials until encounter tables are known post-launch.

High-CP experimental crafts: powerful on paper but expensive to repair if scarred—use gambit slots only.

C Tier archetypes (pre-launch caution)

Duplicate role weapons within a trio: three identical mid-range ARs without elemental spread fail Botsy and debuff synergies.

Untested demo-only feel weapons: if a demo weapon differs from EA balance, demote until patch notes confirm.

Forge investment order

  1. One safe S-tier primary per main Weaver.
  2. Element flex secondary for squad coverage.
  3. Blueprint targets from missions you can extract reliably per How to Extract.
  4. Gambit pierce or precision toys after Periapt stabilizes damage.

Salvage scarred B-tier gambits; repair scarred S-tier safes.

Post-launch updates

Re-rank when Confiction Labs adds weapons, reworks mods, or shifts CP crafting costs at the Forge Center. Until August 11, 2026, treat this as investment philosophy, not a gospel drop table.

Scar-aware crafting

Never craft only one copy of a tier-S archetype if your squad runs high Threat without extract discipline. Pair this list with Weapon Scarring and duplicate blueprint farming on lower Threat before you stake irreplaceable mods on gambit weapons.

Element coverage reminder

Trios need at least two distinct elements across deployed primaries so Botsy turrets and debuff chains stay online when one player scars a flex gun. Cross-check party loadouts on Loadouts night before you craft a third copy of the same AR base.
