RIFTSTORM Periapt Augment System

Long-term account power between missions—work in progress at Early Access launch, planned August 11, 2026 on Steam.

Periapt Progression Guide

Periapt is RIFTSTORM’s between-mission augment progression—account-level power that persists across successful extracts and complements temporary Lythograms picked during a run. Confiction Labs describes the first Early Access version as work in progress, meaning node costs, trees, and balance may change during the planned August 11, 2026 Steam Early Access window and beyond. Periapt is not a substitute for skill or co-op coordination, but it is how squads compound efficiency week over week without treating every mission as a isolated roguelike reset.

How Periapt fits the loop

A typical session flows: lobby via How to Co-op, deploy with a Loadout tuned to your Weaver, fight through Threat-scaled content from Threat Levels, pick Lythograms mid-mission, extract loot per How to Extract, then spend resources on Periapt nodes and Forge Center crafts at hub. Failed extracts still sting through Weapon Scarring on inbound weapons, but Periapt progress itself is not wiped by a single bad extract in the extraction-lite model described pre-launch.

Planning paths by Weaver

Split Periapt investment when running static trios from Trio Comps:

Hertz paths favor maximum health, damage reduction, and Lythogram synergy—Encore scales with upgrades found in mission. Starling paths emphasize attack, magazine, and crit nodes that amplify Momentum loops. Rook paths blend ability damage with move speed to accent Squad Synergy positioning. Botsy paths prioritize deployable buffs, shield regen on turrets, and aura scaling. Caracal paths should follow agile ops and precision themes once official node trees confirm at EA launch—avoid hard-committing until kit details stabilize.

Avoid three players duplicating identical trees; cover gaps listed on the Team Tier List.

Periapt versus Lythograms

Lythograms answer “what does this run look like?” Periapt answers “what is my baseline next Tuesday?” A strong Lythogram high roll can carry a weak Periapt account through Threat 1; high Threat farms assume both layers align. When choosing Lythograms, prefer effects that multiply Periapt nodes you already invested—turret damage if you play Botsy, health if you main Hertz, pierce if you main Starling.

Economy and Forge coupling

Periapt advancement shares resource attention with crafting at the Forge Center. Blueprint missions from Threat Levels should inform which weapon bases you craft before you sink materials into Periapt nodes that only buff unused archetypes. Consult the Weapon Tier List before big spends. Salvage redundant drops to fund both tracks.

Early Access volatility

Games Press and Steam store copy warn that progression balance, enemy tuning, and supporting systems remain experimental at launch—progression resets may occur. Document your Periapt path in external notes or the Squad Composer so you can pivot after patches. Do not min-max a leaked datamine; play missions, extract reliably, then invest.

Risk management

Periapt makes you stronger, which tempts higher Threat and deeper Rift Exposure Zones—exactly where Weapon Scarring triggers if you fail extract. Keep a non-gambit loadout slot while you climb Periapt tiers. Repair or salvage scarred weapons instead of retiring them immediately; preview coverage notes scarred gear remains usable.

Squad coordination

Discuss Periapt goals in voice before lobby: who tanks, who turrets, who marks sustained DPS or mobile ops. Cross-link Weaver Tier List picks with node plans. New players should finish Getting Started before committing respec materials—if respec exists at launch, confirm in-game patch notes.

Post-launch updates

Confiction Labs roadmap mentions post-launch Weavers and an Armory Update—expect new Periapt branches or node types. Revisit this guide after major patches; verify node names in-game rather than trusting stale wiki tables during EA churn.

Week-one Periapt checklist

Day one: unlock broadly useful nodes on your main Weaver before spreading alts. Week one: align one Forge Center craft with your Periapt path so materials are not split across incompatible archetypes. By first Threat 2 clears: coordinate with trios in Trio Comps so at least one player invests frontline Periapt while another invests damage or turret nodes. Document node choices externally until respec tools and costs are confirmed at launch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common RIFTSTORM questions.

What is Periapt in RIFTSTORM?

Between-mission augment progression that persists across runs, complementing in-mission Lythograms. The EA version is work in progress at launch.

Does failing a mission reset Periapt?

Extraction-lite rules scar brought-in weapons on failed extracts—not full account wipes. See Weapon Scarring and How to Extract.

Which Periapt path fits Hertz?

Health, damage reduction, and Lythogram synergy—Encore scales with mid-mission upgrades. Pair with Hertz dossier tips.

Should trios share identical Periapt builds?

No. Split roles using Trio Comps and cover elements for Forge Center crafts.

When does Periapt unlock?

With RIFTSTORM systems at the planned August 11, 2026 Steam Early Access launch—exact tutorial timing may change in EA.
